President's Day weekend was my last weekend off from rugby for the semester, so I wanted to do something really fun. Ridge and I made plans to go to Lancaster, PA, and stay in Amish country. Ridge's dad even flew in for the boys only weekend trip, and was even nice enough to pay for our accommodations. As you know, the Amish fascinate me, and I love their food! So we went and stayed on an Amish farm for the three day weekend. Even cooler, we toured Amish country in a buggy and rode horses. Awesome!! Oh, and Hershey is only 40 minutes away, so we went to Hershey Park and the Hershey chocolate factory. I even got to make my own candy bar while there!! On the way back, we stopped at Gettysburg, where Ridge and I have both wanted to visit; it was quite a moving experience!
NEVER HAPPENED
Conspiracy- an evil, unlawful, treacherous, or surreptitious plan formulated in secret by two or more persons
(Note: Surreptitious- 1. obtained, done, made, etc., by stealth; secret or unauthorized 2. acting in a stealthy way)
The Conspirators:
The Best Friend and Fiance
The Sponsors
The Sister
The Plotter
The Plotter, Ms Deina Ige, informed me multiple times the previous month that she was busy with prior school and nursing engagements over President's Day weekend. Ridge and I then proceeded to make plans to stay in Amish country with his dad. Hopes were high! I told all my friends, rugby buddies, and loved ones all about my upcoming adventure. Mr Alkonis then proceeded to spin off fib after fib about the planned trip. I was super excited! The thought of actually getting to meet Amish people, ride their horses, and taste all the chocolate--I couldn't wait! Ideas for my next blog post were already flowing. As our Friday afternoon departure approached, I was packed up and ready to hit the road to Amish country...that's when things got crazy with the plot's finale.
The Plotter made plane reservations several weeks prior while collaborating with her fellow conspirators. My best friend, being the key accomplice, lied to my face and to others as well, playing us all as fools. My own dear sister gave not even a hint. My sponsors, who I thought loved me as their own child, played along as well, encouraging the excitement for the trip. And then, to bring it all together...Deina appeared on the doorstep Friday afternoon--a complete and shocking SURPRISE!
FOOLED, TRICKED, DUPED, BAMBOOZLED!!
I didn't get to go to Amish country or the Hershey factory. Instead... I had an even better weekend!!
For all those out there making weekend plans, beware of conspiracies...they do exist

You should have gone to the chocolate factory.
