IN LOVE...AGAIN!

Last weekend Mom and Dad came into town for a quick visit to go see the Army-Navy game.  I got them tickets last Spring, 6 rows from the top...where they could see everything in the stadium and not
miss a thing...only the best for my parents!!

They flew in on Friday afternoon and what was the first thing they did?  Visit their son who they rarely see? Nope, straight to the Amish Market for donuts.  That's right, apparently Amish donuts trump family relationships, they're that good!

Anywho, the emphasis on the donuts made me remember some other Amish desserts I had seen but hadn't tried yet, the pies, specifically the pecan pie.  So Saturday I made a little pilgrimage over to the Amish market.  I got in line for the pies with my eye on the pecan.  I grabbed the pecan but then spotted another one that looked tasty--caramel apple walnut.  So what did I do, bought both.  Delicious!

But that's no surprise, I expected the pies to be good.  Here's the kicker:  while in the store I was a little hungry; so, I figured I might as well have one of the amazing pretzel logs for a little afternoon snack, but the line was super long.  I then noticed a little sandwich stand right next to it with no line at all.  So I thought Aaa why not, I'll try something new.  To say the least, Few decisions in my life have been better!  I got a philly cheesesteak, the best cheesesteak I've ever  had!!

Quick history note: Last  year the Army-Navy game was in Philly so Ridge, Joseph, and I went to two of the oldest and most famous cheesesteak shops in Philly, Pat's and Geno's, which were both featured on the food network.  Since they are right across the street from each other, we had one from each.  To our utter dismay, both places produced a thoroughly disappointing cheesesteak.
Pat, Geno--meet the Amish:

This thing was incredible!! I watched this Amish gal cook it up right there fresh.  Mouth-watering goodness!

I have got to get with one of those Amish girls!
